The Buskars Band History
In days of yore,
which came just after once upon a time, "busking" was
the name given to the art of street performing in the British
Isles and Ireland. Musicians, jugglers, artists, actors
and otherwise "disreputable" characters who made their
living in this manner were called "buskars."
These traditions continue today throughout the world and the
mantle has been taken up by a group of musicians who call themselves
"The Buskars Band" or "Buskars" for short.
"Buskars" music is described as a sub-genre of Celtic-Americana-Roots
music ranging from traditional Scottish and Irish folk tunes
which led to America's early mountain music to the lyrical songs
of Stephen Foster and beyond. "Buskars" also go a step
further with original music written in the traditional folk style.
The musicians in the band are Rick Grove on guitars and 6 string
banjo; Tim Reinhard on mandolin, banjo, tin whistles, djembe
drum and Scottish smallpipes; and Michael Fitch on fiddle, low
whistles, banjo, guitar, bodhran and Scottish smallpipes.
Vocals are shared among the group.
